Color of August

Launching this site in the month of August makes me wonder about all things August. It’s the eighth month and the dog days of summer that make me wish it would last forever.

August starts with watermelon days and mid-month smiles, all ending with salted hair and sandy pockets. August reminds me of my olive-skinned roots and how I need to slow down because the days are no longer as stretched out as they were just weeks before.

I want to toe that shoreline a little longer and still feel the weight of the sun on my bare shoulders as I set it down to sleep. I want to smell coconut on my skin and taste those Jersey blueberries picked fresh with my stained fingers blue.

And if I close my eyes, what will I see? It’s not Peridot’s yellow-green. Not that fresh green of calmness. It’s “Sun Orange”, made for impact. I feel like that is apt for the move to create this brand and site from the ground up.

I like orange in all of its shades- from a mellow mango to a juicy starburst orange. I made several different earrings along the spectrum in honor of this month, August.

Don’t feel badly, turmeric or even you, saffron. Pumpkin orange and spice days are not too far ahead, but for now I am going to bask in the orange glow that only August knows and could possibly understand.
